Gloucester Schools open doors to refurbished Leisure Centres

£2 million refurbishment for Henley Bank and Holmleigh Park’s Leisure Centres

Henley Bank and Holmleigh Park have each benefited from £1 million investment to refurbish their leisure centre facilities, including a state-of-the-art gym, indoor cycling studio, group exercise classes, pool and improved changing rooms.

The Greenshaw Learning Trust has outsourced the operations of the leisure centres to Halo Leisure, a non-profit organisation, to provide commercial expertise and improve the facilities for the benefit of students, staff and the local communities. The leisure centres are available to use by the community.

Will Smith, CEO of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: "We believe that our school's extra-curricular programme should be as impressive as our curriculum offer, so students receive a broad and balanced education. By enhancing our sporting and leisure facilities, our school communities can benefit from further opportunities and experiences. We are delighted to form a partnership with Halo to ensure Holmleigh Park and Henley Bank's leisure centres receive much-needed investment and improvements to ensure our sports centres are fit for purpose not just now but for future generations."

Scott Rolfe, Chief Executive of Halo Leisure, said: “We are delighted to be selected by the school as the operational partner in the delivery of their leisure services. Our social enterprise business model and registered charity status allows us to trade for social purposes and ‘not for profit’, something the school recognised as a sign of quality and strength. The £1m investment is only the beginning. We’re incredibly excited about what we can achieve to get even more local people more active more often. Our team is ready to welcome local residents to a gym workout, a group exercise class in the pool, dedicated indoor cycling area or exercise studio or a session in the pool.”
