Sutton New Schools – Deadline confirmed for Building consultation

Have your say on Sutton New Schools' building.

Sutton residents have until Friday 23 August 2019 to have their say on the new proposed Sutton secondary school and special school building at Rosehill, Sutton. Sutton Council will be reviewing the school building planning application, submitted by Wates, at a Planning Committee meeting in September 2019.

The Greenshaw Learning Trust was given approval in 2015 by the Department for Education to open a new secondary school in Sutton in response to the need for school places in central/north Sutton. Sutton Council subsequently approved the principle of the new schools being built on the disused all weather pitch and a small part of the Sports Village at Rosehill Recreation Ground, subject to planning permission.

The latest data shows that an additional 320 secondary school places are required in September 2020, so Sutton Council is developing plans to enable the secondary school to open in a temporary location in central Sutton.

If planning permission is granted by Sutton Council in autumn 2019, this will allow the secondary school to open in temporary accommodation in September 2020 and then move to Rosehill in January 2022, when the new special school would also be able to open.
