Roger Mills took up the post of Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Greenshaw Learning Trust on 16 December 2019.

Roger is founder and manager of Sutton Voice (a not for profit community news website), chair of a social enterprise IT company, Director of Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust, former chair of a special school governing body, former chair of governors at a secondary school, and former Managing Director of a regional newspaper group.

Roger has been a Trustee of the Greenshaw Learning Trust since June 2016 and is skilled and experienced in company strategic development, scrutiny of performance and in media and digital communications.

Roger took over from Mike Cooper, who stood down as Chair and as a Trustee on 16 December.

Mike, who had been Chair since the Trust was first established in 2011, had previously announced that he felt it was the appropriate point in the development of the Trust for him to stand down from the Board of Trustees. The Board had elected Roger to take over the role of chair.

Will Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “Mike has been the driving force behind the development of the Greenshaw Learning Trust since its establishment. The entire Trust has benefited from his knowledge, skills and expertise, in particular around governance but also more widely, across the whole organisation. Mike has also been a mentor, guide and coach for me personally over the last 12 years for which I am enormously grateful. I join with all connected with the Trust in thanking Mike for his dedication, wisdom and determination.”
