DfE proposes that Yate Academy joins the Trust

The DfE has decided that Yate International Academy in Gloucestershire should be re-brokered into the Greenshaw Learning Trust.

The Department for Education (DfE) has decided that Yate International Academy in South Gloucestershire should be re-brokered into the Greenshaw Learning Trust.

The DfE’s Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC), Rebecca Clark, and her team have been working closely with The Ridings Federation of Academies to secure a strong and sustainable solution for their two schools at Yate and Winterbourne.

Following discussions with the RSC and the Ridings Federation, the Greenshaw Learning Trust indicated that it would be interested in taking Yate Academy into the Greenshaw family.

Mike Cooper, Chair of the Greenshaw Leaning Trust said: "We are delighted that Lord Nash has agreed that Yate Academy should join the Greenshaw Learning Trust and look forward to working with TRFA and Yate in the coming months to finalise arrangements.

"The values and ethos of Yate Academy match those of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, and the Trust has the experience and capacity to provide the support Yate needs to help it to continue the improvements that are being put into place by its Principal, Mr Skipp, and his team."

If the Greenshaw Learning Trust’s due diligence checks and negotiations with the DfE are successful, it is expected that Yate Academy will join the Trust on 1 September 2017.

In the meantime, the Greenshaw Learning Trust will be working with the leadership and governors at Yate Academy and providing support to the school to ensure that it continues to move forward.
